In the 90's my mum and dad
spent weekends trolling small-town graveyards
for familiar names on headstones.
I guess this was how most people put together
family trees before the internet.
Each weekend I was desperate they'd find
some sort of sphinx in the cemetery with our name on it.
No such luck.
